My slow cooker is mainly used for savory dishes, soups, and stews. I wanted to broaden my range and try making something for dessert. This recipe is insanely easy and pushed me in a new direction. Hope you enjoy.
ACTIVE TIME: 5 minutes
COOKING TIME: 8 hours
COOLING TIME: 30 minutes
SHOPPING LIST
1 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk
2 8 oz. glass canning jars with lids
Boiling water
HOW TO
Pre-heat slow cooker. Fill slow cooker insert with boiled water. Divide sweetened condensed milk between the two glass canning jars. Place metal lid on and screw on metal canning band.
Once jar tops are secure, insert them into your slow cooker water bath. Add additional water to cover lids. Put slow cooker lid on.
Set slow cooker timer for 8 hours on low. Walk away.
Return 8 hours later. Remove lid of slow cooker and gently remove jars. Let them cool in the sink for 30 minutes.
SERVING SUGGESTION
Spoon on ice cream or eat straight out of the jar. If you put the sauce on ice cream, add some broken pretzels for the ultimate sweet, salty, crunchy sensation.
PRO TIP: Sweetened condensed milk is very sticky and slow running. When pouring the the milk from its original metal can into your canning jars, use a can opener to completely remove the metal top.
